How far does a mother’s right to protect her child’s privacy and little face extend in a world completely obsessed with cameras and social media? 🛑🥺👶

Supermodel Gigi Hadid decided to put a definitive stop to it and issued a harsh, unequivocal open letter addressed to the press, paparazzi, and fan accounts around the world. Tired of seeing them try to photograph her little daughter Khai whenever they go out, the model firmly demanded that they blur and completely obscure her baby’s face in any image circulating online.

Gigi explained that, as a mother, her top priority is to give her daughter as normal, safe, and protected a childhood as possible. In her view, children don’t choose their parents’ fame, and the little girl herself should decide, when she is mature enough, whether she wants to show her face to the world or keep her life private.

This drastic decision struck a very sensitive chord and sparked an intense conversation among millions of women. On the one hand, thousands of mothers enthusiastically applaud her, saying that a mother’s protective instinct should take precedence over people’s curiosity or morbid fascination, and warning of the growing dangers of overexposing children online (sharenting).

On the other hand, some debate whether it’s really possible to hide a child’s face in the digital age, or whether covering children’s faces in photos is an excessive measure.

A firm stance that brings the debate over privacy, child safety, and how far parents should go to shield their little ones’ identities to the forefront. ❤️‍🩹✨

What do you think? Do you post photos showing your children’s faces on social media, or do you prefer to protect their identities until they grow up?
