Rebecca Hardy never felt the implant in her left arm. 🩹
It was inserted in March 2018, in Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom, and from the very first day something didn’t feel right. She called the clinic, and they told her to wait. She returned months later and was assured it was “just a deep implant”. And so it remained unresolved, while she continued raising her two children, Lexxie and Dexter.
When she finally went to have it removed in 2021, no one could find it. After months of CT scans and X-rays, the answer came in 2022: the implant had traveled through her veins and lodged in a pulmonary artery. Removing it could tear her artery, doctors told her. 💔 Today, almost seven years later, Rebecca is still living with it inside her, knowing it will be years before she can try for another pregnancy.
