Images of Glenn Close leaning on a cane in New York went viral, and fans began wondering what was wrong.
At 79, the actress decided to put an end to the speculation with a video on Instagram. She was direct: she uses a cane because she had a total hip replacement.
She said she discovered that her left hip was in very bad shape and that her goal now is to stay fit so she can take on new challenges. She didn’t reveal when she had the surgery, but she did want to publicly thank her surgeon, Dr. Edwin Sue, of New York’s Hospital for Special Surgery: “Thank you for my new hip”.
Her message to those who were worried was short and clear: “Don’t worry, I’m feeling great”.
And she has no intention of sitting still: for now, she walks with a cane, but she hopes to travel to London on the 26th for the premiere of Hunger Games and then return to New York for the premiere of All’s Fair.
