Matías Almeyda, Monterrey’s DT, made a confession that no one expected during an interview. He spoke about his mother in Argentina and shared something that put his life in Mexico into perspective.

“My mother in Argentina eats salmon 2 times a year because it’s so expensive”, said the Rosario-born coach. And he didn’t stop there: he went on to explain that in Monterrey, that same fish is part of his daily routine, something that in his country of origin would be a luxury reserved for special occasions.

For Almeyda, it wasn’t just a curious fact about food. It was his way of giving thanks. “How could I not be grateful to this country? I even value what they give me to eat”, he concluded, making it clear that his affection for Mexico goes far beyond the pitch. 🐟🇲🇽
