NASA changed the sizes of devices for urinating in space to “large”, “gigantic”, and “humungous” because no male astronaut wanted to use the “small” one 😂

NASA had to solve an unexpected problem during the Apollo missions… and it was all because of the astronauts’ ego. 🚀😅

Donald Rethke, an engineer known as “Dr. Flush”, said that the devices used by astronauts to collect urine worked like a kind of condom connected to a hose and came in three sizes: small, medium, and large.

The problem was that no one wanted to use the small size. 🥲

As he explained, all the astronauts asked for the large size, even though it often did not fit them properly. This caused leaks inside the space suits and ended up affecting the missions.

The solution was as simple as it was curious: NASA decided to change the size names to “large”, “gigantic”, and “humungous”. And surprisingly, that was enough for each astronaut to start choosing the correct size. 😂
