Residents of Morgan County, Georgia, say the water in their homes began coming out brown and with sediment after the development of a huge data campus (data center) in the area.

Some families say they stopped using the water for cooking or bathing and that they have even had to request water from other cities. The images shown at a Congressional hearing shocked thousands. Jars filled with dark water and residents reporting possible underground contamination problems.

Meta denied the accusations and said that independent studies concluded that its operations “had no impact” on the local supply. But among neighbors, distrust continues to grow.
