For years, some sports broadcasts were criticized for using shots that lingered unnecessarily on female athletes’ bodies. Now, new recommendations from the European Broadcasting Union and European Athletics call for avoiding low-angle cameras, shots from behind, and slow-motion replays that do not provide sporting information.

The guide aims for broadcasts of women’s athletics to focus on the competitors’ technique, power, and performance. It is not a worldwide ban, but rather a new standard of respect that organizations hope more and more broadcasters will adopt. 📺🏃‍♀️
