New photographs from Mackenzie Shirilla’s prison have reignited the debate on social media. In the images, the 21-year-old woman appears serving her sentence at the Ohio Reformatory for Women, while the case has resurfaced strongly following the release of the documentary The Crash on Netflix.
Shirilla was convicted in 2023 of causing the crash that ended the lives of her boyfriend Dominic Russo and his friend Davion Flanagan, after crashing her car into a wall at more than 160 km/h.
But in addition to the photos, recent leaks about her life in prison have also sparked controversy, including accusations from a former inmate who described her as a “mean girl” and calls in which she claimed that she did not need rehabilitation, comments that once again divided opinions on the internet.
