The actor revealed that he legally changed his name and removed “Coppola” from his documents, even though he had been using “Cage” publicly for decades, and the reason was far more personal than many imagine.
“I’m Nick Cage in real life and in front of the cameras. It’s better to be the patriarch of my own family than the outcast clown cousin in someone else’s family”, he explained.
His family includes giant names in cinema like Francis Ford Coppola and Talia Shire, but he wanted to build his own path, without living under anyone’s shadow.
And that’s how Nicolas Coppola ended up officially becoming Nicolas Cage. 🤯
