From a cell in Brooklyn, Nicolás Maduro decided to send a message to the world. 🙏
He titled it ‘a small gift of love and hope’ for his grandchildren and for all ‘the noble people who love us.’ Alongside his wife Cilia Flores, he wrote that he hugs them ‘forever.’

Everything was very tender, until the media checked the actual date of those photographs: they were taken on June 25, 2026, more than two months before he published them on August 30, the date on which he was able to publish them.

Maduro has been detained since January 3, 2026, after being captured in a military operation in Caracas, and is now awaiting trial in New York, accused of narco-terrorism, importing illicit substances, and possessing weapons of war. He pleaded not guilty to all four charges.
Cilia Flores faces similar charges.
Meanwhile, from the Metropolitan Detention Center, someone decided that a memory from 66 days ago could pass as a spontaneous gesture of hope. Why are they allowed to make this type of post?
