Todd Rundgren didn’t hold back. 🎤

The 78-year-old musician and producer, a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the mastermind behind “Bat Out of Hell” by Meat Loaf, gave an interview to Vulture. He was asked which artist he would target today if he made a parody album, as he did in 1977 with Bruce Springsteen. His answer was blunt: “Taylor Swift, of course”.

He added that there’s an argument to be made that she “ruined music” and called her “the apotheosis of mediocrity”. According to him, she’s not a great singer, nor a great songwriter, nor a great dancer.

His theory: in the 90s, boys stopped spending money on music and put it toward video games, so the industry started churning out songs for young girls with their allowance, instead of bands like Pearl Jam.

A well-founded critique or just nostalgia from the old guard?
