It’s well known that social media is full of photos of perfect people, especially right in the middle of Met Gala season. We see ideal faces, smooth skin, flawless makeup, and celebrities posing as if pimples, sweat, wrinkles, or anything a normal human being has simply didn’t exist.
Yes, because on Instagram celebrities seem to have a filter glued to their faces… but no. Reality is quite different when photos appear without so much editing, without the perfect angle, and with less flattering light.

In fact, several real images from the Met Gala showed exactly that: skin with texture, expression lines, shine, makeup that doesn’t look so flawless up close, and faces that are much more normal than what people usually see on social media.

And there’s nothing wrong with that either. On the contrary, maybe what’s strange is that we’ve gotten so used to seeing overly polished faces that when a real photo appears, it almost seems like a revelation.

In the end, the famous “Instagram versus reality” also makes its way to the most glamorous red carpets. Because yes, they may have incredibly expensive dresses, professional makeup artists, and cameras everywhere… but they still have human faces.
