Growing up as the daughter of two billionaires and wanting to know what it’s like to clock in for work wasn’t on anyone’s bingo card.
North West is only 13 years old, but she has already begun a music career and has grown up surrounded by a reality very different from that of most people. Even so, she is curious to experience something quite ordinary: having a “normal job”.
In an interview with Dazed, the daughter of Kim Kardashian and Ye said that when she turns 14, she would like to get a part-time job at Starbucks. Not because she needs the money, but because she wants to experience for herself what it is like to work like any other teenager.
The confession quickly sparked comments and comparisons to her famous mother. Some joked that “she didn’t turn out like her mom”, while others celebrated that, despite growing up amid luxury and privilege, North is curious to experience a reality completely different from her own.
That said, she will probably have to wait a little longer: although in California some teenagers can work from the age of 14 under certain conditions, Starbucks generally requires applicants to be at least 16.
For now, music remains her main goal, but North seems to have another experience pending on her list: putting on an apron, working a shift, and discovering for herself what it feels like to have a “normal job” ☕.
