“I’m now the same age my father was when he died”: Pete Davidson remembers his father, who died on 9/11, as he experiences this date as a dad for the first time

Pete Davidson was just 7 years old when he lost his father.

Scott Davidson was a New York City firefighter and died at 33 while responding to the September 11, 2001 attacks. Now, 25 years later, Pete is about to turn that same age and will experience the anniversary as a father for the first time. 👨‍👧

In December, Scottie, his daughter with Elsie Hewitt, was born, and they both decided to give her that name in honor of Scott. Pete said that when they bathed her as a baby, there was a photo of his father nearby and she always kept looking at it. Even after they moved the photograph, he says Scottie kept turning her head to see it.

Now Pete acknowledges that he still doesn’t know how he will one day explain to his daughter who the grandfather she never got to meet was and how he died during one of the most tragic days in the history of the United States. 💔
