There are memories we know exist and others that life gives back to us when we least expect it 🥺
Emily Watlington had lost her best friend, and years after his death, she happened to come across something she never imagined she would see: an image of the two of them together on Google Maps.
The photograph had been captured by a Street View camera while the two were in the street, completely unaware that the moment was being recorded. In it, they appear to be sharing one of those everyday moments that probably seemed insignificant at the time: they were dancing together.
For Emily, discovering it after his passing gave that image an entirely different meaning. Moved, she shared the discovery and wrote: “I miss my best friend so much, but now we’re dancing together forever on Google Maps”.
The post touched thousands of people, especially because the photograph had not been staged or taken to preserve a memory. They were simply enjoying being together, and a camera happened to pass by at just the right moment.
Emily could not dance with her friend again, but she discovered that, in a small corner of Google Maps, there is a version of the two of them that never stopped doing so 🥺❤️
