Nurse flips her car at 68 km/h because she was glued to her cellphone and says she had been “run off the road”

This driver was traveling on the rural roads of Snohomish, Washington, when she made a mistake that nearly cost her her life: texting while driving a Nissan LEAF she had rented hours earlier. The negligence was so serious that at one point she even let go of the steering wheel completely to hold the cellphone with both hands.

Footage from the vehicle’s interior camera, which later went viral on social media, shows how the woman, identified by a nurse practitioner credential, begins to drift off the road while typing the message, causing the car to fall into a ditch and roll over spectacularly.

The most striking part of the case is that after the accident, the driver told both the vehicle’s owner and the Snohomish Sheriff that she had been “run off the road”, a version that was disproved by the dashcam recording that she herself chose to keep turned on.
