Gabrielle Luiza knelt and did not get up until she had completed 392 meters.

In Brazil, this mother had made a promise when fear for her daughter Catarina’s health was greater than hope. She did not share the details of that struggle, but she did share what she felt upon keeping her word: “On my knees I asked, on my knees I gave thanks”, she said through tears in the video she shared afterward.
Walking like that, without support, with her knees scraping the ground for almost four blocks, was her way of giving back something that, to her, is priceless. She said that only God and Our Lady know how long she waited for that moment, and that the fear of not making it was with her throughout the journey. In the end, through tears of happiness, she summed it all up in one phrase: “My Catarina won and I won”. Faith made flesh, one step on her knees at a time.
