Samantha Strable was already famous for all the wrong reasons.

In March 2025, this 26-year-old American influencer went viral around the world after a video showed her pulling a baby wombat from its own mother’s arms during a trip to Australia. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese himself publicly condemned her and called her act “an outrage”.

More than a year later, Strable returned to court, but for another reason: hunting without a guide in a wilderness area of Wyoming, while also using a resident license she was not entitled to. She faced eight charges, including six counts of fraud and making false statements about her residence. On August 27, 2026, she pleaded no contest to a single charge, the prosecutors dropped the other seven, and the Sublette County Court sentenced her to 12 months of unsupervised probation, 180 days in jail suspended, and a mere fine of 575,40 dollars. According to her lawyer, her hunting permits remain intact.
