Lucy Hellein went into labor without imagining that her baby would end up starring in one of the most curious photos of 2017. On April 27, she gave birth to Dexter at Fort Benning, Georgia, a boy weighing 4,1 kilos and measuring 54,6 centimeters.
The surprising discovery came during delivery: the Mirena IUD Lucy had been using as birth control was found intact behind the placenta. The device ended up in Dexter’s hand for a photo that quickly went viral.
Lucy had discovered her pregnancy in December, when she was already 18 weeks along. Her original due date was May 4, Star Wars Day, so she wrote: “The Force is strong in this baby”. She also called him “my little Jedi”. Sometimes the desire to come into this world is stronger than one of the most effective contraceptives 😅.
