When it was time to take the photo, no one needed to explain who the main character was. Everyone pointed to Pablo, while showing off the same haircut they had chosen to support him 🥹

It was 2017, and Pablo Kreft was in his third year of high school at Colegio San Benito in Vitacura, Santiago, Chile, when he was facing testicular cancer and undergoing chemotherapy. The disease had a good prognosis, but his classmates wanted to do something tangible to show him they were there for him.

One by one, the young men decided to shave their heads as a sign of support. And the gesture wasn’t limited to the students: their homeroom teacher joined in too and appeared alongside them in the photograph that went on to circulate across Chilean social media.

The image was shared by Alejandra Méndez, then director of Fundación Nuestros Hijos, an organization dedicated to supporting children and young people with cancer. Pablo’s mother, Paula Márquez, said she was happy because the photo conveyed affection, love, and a positive way of facing a difficult time.

None of them was looking to become famous for what they had done. They wanted their classmate to know something much simpler: while he was undergoing chemotherapy, he had an entire class ready to support him through even the changes the treatment would bring ❤️
