Frankie Muniz had 38 cars before he turned 18. And he had almost no idea how much money was leaving his account each month.
The actor who became famous playing Malcolm in “Malcolm in the Middle” said on Andrew Gold’s podcast, “Heretics”, that from a young age he left his finances in the hands of a trusted financial manager. Suspicions arose when his then-girlfriend found a 41.000-dollar charge for “investigation”. When they checked the rest, Muniz says they found a list of charges that was hard to believe: 20.000 dollars a year to insure a car that cost about 13.000, and 30.000 dollars to paint his garage door.

According to his account, while those amounts were going through without explanation, his manager questioned his small expenses, even when he treated his friends to dinner. When he finally understood the scale of the problem, he says the legal deadline to take action had already passed and the police could not help him.
This is all the actor’s version of events: there is no court ruling confirming the charges.
