Paolo Maldini, the eternal captain of AC Milan and one of the greatest defenders football has ever seen, came out with a statement no one expected from a guy with 5 European Cups in his trophy cabinet.
“I am the biggest loser in history. Let me explain the reasoning. I won a great deal, five European Cups, but I lost several important finals”, Maldini said.

And then he began to list them: three lost Champions League finals, one European Championship final, one 1994 World Cup final with Italy, one World Cup semifinal, three Intercontinental finals and one European Super Cup.

A long list for someone who won virtually everything else over 25 seasons wearing red and black, even in blue with the Italy national team crest on his chest.
