Last Sunday, the well-known Paraguayan criminal José Gabriel Leguizamón Díaz burst in with his car in the middle of the charity race “APE Corre 5K”. His dangerous maneuver, carried out on the Costanera Sur to evade a police checkpoint, caused mass panic among the hundreds of athletes present.

Police immediately began pursuing the driver as he sped along the course, triggering an exchange of gunfire in the area. The confrontation caused the death of the young woman accompanying him and ended with the suspect’s arrest near Lambaré.

The detainee, nicknamed “La Vaca”, has an extensive criminal record that includes seventeen outstanding arrest warrants for various serious crimes. Authorities confirmed that the suspect was being actively sought by Paraguayan and international justice before causing this incident.
