Paris Jackson reached a point where there were no easy options left.
Michael Jackson’s 28-year-old daughter said on Jay Shetty’s “On Purpose” podcast that she came close to attempting to take her own life before undergoing nine sessions of electroconvulsive therapy in just three weeks. She had previously tried everything: medication, EMDR therapy, DBT, and transcranial magnetic stimulation, with no lasting results.

She described the process as painful, performed under general anesthesia, and shared a curious detail: she had to swap her metal piercings for plastic ones before each session. Today, that experience is forever captured on the cover of her new album, where she appears wearing a mouthguard like the one she used during treatment.
