More than 300 hours of work. That is the time Emma Jayne Morris, a 55-year-old pastry chef from Aberdare, Wales, invested in building something no one expected to see at a baking fair: a life-size Michael Jackson, completely edible, inspired by the iconic Thriller look from the 80s. 🎂
The internal structure is built with compacted Rice Krispies, covered and detailed with fondant and sugar paste until it reached 1.80 meters in height. Every facial feature, every fold of the red and black suit, was crafted by hand during 15-hour workdays over the course of three weeks. The piece was presented at the Cake International Show at the NEC in Birmingham on October 31, 2025, right on Halloween and in parallel with the release of the biographical film “Michael”.
The public’s reaction was immediate: no one could believe that what they had in front of them was cake. If you ever thought decorating a cake required patience, this completely redefines the concept. 🍰
