Robert Parry is a pediatric surgeon and knows that one of the most difficult moments comes after the operation, when the child wakes up and discovers the dressing covering the incision.

That is why, before finishing, he takes a marker and transforms it into something much friendlier: Snoopy, superheroes, animals, cars, or any character that can bring a smile to the patient’s face.

What began as a small gesture inspired by another surgeon ended up becoming a tradition that accompanied thousands of operations. Some families even kept those dressings as mementos.

It does not eliminate the fear or the scar, but it can change a child’s first impression upon waking up after surgery.
