Storm Dove has nearly 2 million followers on TikTok and decided to show, without filters, something few people understand until they see it with their own eyes.
Her skin, once deeply dark, has gradually lightened over the years because of vitiligo. She compared her own process with that of Michael Jackson, whose autopsy confirmed depigmented areas on his face, chest, abdomen, and arms: it wasn’t an aesthetic decision; it was the same condition she lives with every day.
When the remaining pigment became uneven, the singer turned to depigmenting treatments to even it out, just as many people with advanced vitiligo do.
“As a Black woman with dark skin, watching my complexion gradually lighten has been difficult to put into words”, Storm wrote. Her video has already surpassed 5 million views and finally provided medical context where there had previously only been rumors.
