From waking up with a cotton-filled condom inside her to the cold daily dilations and the long-awaited first time after 6 months of waiting: the 27-year-old answers the most salacious and closely guarded questions about transgender anatomy.
Few people in the world dare to talk about gender reassignment surgery without embellishments or romanticism. However, Argentine content creator Martina Bellucci decided to discard euphemisms and explain exactly what happens behind the scenes in one of the most mysterious and misunderstood medical procedures.
At 27, and after investing more than 20,000 dollars in her physical transformation, Martina revealed the “other side” of vaginoplasty and debunked the biggest myth on the internet: “They don’t cut off your penis and make a hole; you keep what you had”.
The strange object inside her and 5 days with her legs spread open
The surgery lasts between 7 and 8 hours, but the real nightmare for many begins when they wake up from anesthesia. Martina revealed the unusual method doctors use to keep the new cavity open during the first few days:
“When I woke up, I had something inside me: a cotton-filled condom shaped like a phallus that they insert as an internal stent. Having that inside you all the time makes you feel like going to the bathroom every second because it constantly puts pressure on the intestines”, she recounted.
She spent five days hospitalized, unable to get up, with her legs spread open, a urinary catheter and under the effects of morphine. However, the most harrowing part was yet to come.
Daily dilations: “A cold, shapeless acrylic thing”
To prevent the newly constructed vagina from closing due to the body’s natural healing process, patients must undergo a mandatory routine of mechanical dilation for life.
During the first few months, Martina had to do it four times a day with three acrylic tubes of different thicknesses:
“You use a lidocaine gel so you don’t feel pain, but it’s not enjoyable at all. It’s a cold, shapeless, white acrylic thing. You have to insert it, press it to the back, and make clock-hand-like movements”, she confessed bluntly.
Sex after surgery: What was the first time like and what does it feel like?
Although doctors medically cleared her to have sex in the third month, fear and nerves led Martina to postpone the trial by fire until she reached six months after surgery.
“The first time wasn’t very nice. I was super nervous, afraid it would hurt or that something might happen”, she recalled about that first intimate encounter.
However, as she grew more confident with her new anatomy, the situation changed completely. Because she had preserved the glans to reconstruct the clitoris, the nerve endings remain intact:
“The clitoris is formed from the glans of the penis. When a trans woman becomes aroused, the clitoris reacts too. Sensitivity is not lost; it is relocated. Today I enjoy sex one hundred percent. Of all the surgeries I’ve had, this was the best decision of my life”, she stated firmly.
Today, with a completely active and happy sex life, Martina only needs to dilate once every two weeks and says that the effort and the process were worth every second.
