Philip Reilly lost much of his face after decades of praying under the sun to save the most vulnerable outside abortion clinics

Philip Reilly carried a rosary in his hand and never said an unnecessary word.

For decades, he stood outside abortion clinics in New York, under direct sunlight, hour after hour, offering mothers in crisis something no one else there gave them: time, calm, a real alternative. He did not shout slogans. He prayed in silence and spoke only when someone approached looking for a way out.

The sun he endured for so long left him with skin cancer that advanced slowly and without permission, until doctors had to remove much of his nose. Reilly did not leave the streets. The scars on his face remained as proof of something he no longer needed to explain with words: how much he was willing to give for the lives he was trying to protect, mother by mother, baby by baby, for years.
