One of the most impressive photos of Christ the Redeemer was no coincidence. Leonardo Sens, a Brazilian photographer from Niterói, spent 3 years calculating the exact moment when the Moon could align with the statue’s arms in Rio de Janeiro.
In 2021, he was unable to frame the shot. In 2022, cloudy skies ruined the attempt. He also bought new lenses and used apps to track the satellite’s position. On June 4, 2023, from Icaraí Beach and nearly 12 kilometers away, he tried again before dawn.
