Avar didn’t know she was posing. She was simply doing what mothers do: caring for her young.
Her owner, a photographer who also raises other animals, decided to capture the moment this parakeet became the mother of three tiny chicks. It wasn’t a staged shoot with lights or studio backdrops; it was simply a matter of being there, camera in hand, while Avar tucked her babies under her wing and watched them with the attentiveness only first-time mothers have.
He later recounted what it was like to be there throughout the entire process: watching each chick hatch, one after another, and then seeing them grow day by day alongside their parents. Having that front-row seat, he said, was something he wouldn’t trade for anything. And you only have to look at the photos to understand why.
