If you ever saw Chris Evans running barefoot in ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’, there’s a detail you probably never noticed.
During filming, the actor wore special flesh-colored boots designed to look like bare feet. The reason was pretty simple: they had to film Steve Rogers running at full speed along paved streets, and no one wanted Evans to end up with his feet destroyed.
But there was one problem: the fake feet looked too strange on camera.
So the visual effects team did the rest. The specialists scanned Evans’s feet and created digital feet that replaced the boots in the film, down to the movement of the toes and the flexing of the muscles.
The next time you watch that scene, take a close look.
Captain America really was running… but his feet were never actually the ones that appeared on screen.
