Stavros Floros was not a celebrity when he arrived on Survivor Greece. He was only 21 years old and wanted to experience one of the best-known survival reality shows.
But one of the show’s activities ended up changing his life forever.
On May 11, 2026, while fishing underwater during a break from filming in the Dominican Republic, a tourist boat struck him with its propeller. The impact caused serious injuries to both legs and resulted in the amputation of a large part of his left leg.
A passenger on the boat managed to apply a tourniquet, and according to Floros, that intervention saved his life. He was later transferred to Miami, where he remained hospitalized for 61 days and underwent multiple surgeries.
Now 22 years old, the young man is learning to get around again and has begun sharing his recovery on social media. But he has also decided to take the case to court.
On September 3, he filed a lawsuit against the producers of Survivor Greece, the company responsible for the show, businessman Acun Ilıcalı, and Greek network SKAI, among others, seeking more than US$100 million. Floros maintains that the production did not implement enough measures to protect contestants from the boats circulating in the area.
The production company, for its part, has stated that the accident occurred outside the competition and that there was an immediate response to assist him while authorities investigated what happened.
His story opens up a debate much larger than the reality show itself: how much risk should be allowed in the name of entertainment?
