On Tuesday, September 29, her lawyer, Kevin Reddington, asked Judge William Sullivan to enter a judgment of acquittal. He argued that the prosecution had not proven the charges beyond a reasonable doubt. Prosecutors rejected the argument and pointed to the evidence presented during the trial.
Sullivan did not rule on the request immediately or set a date for another trial. Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz said his office had not yet decided whether to prosecute her again. The next hearing was scheduled for November 2, when new motions will be addressed and a date for another trial may be set.
