But while the money was coming in, she was weaving a web to keep the tax authorities from ever seeing it: 12 business identifications, 11 business bank accounts, and 8 personal ones, all used to move funds without any real business purpose. With that money, she paid her rent, bought luxury cars, and spent more than 110 thousand dollars on jewelry.
On September 15, she pleaded guilty before a federal judge in Hartford. She must now repay the IRS more than 1.1 million dollars and could face up to 5 years in prison. She was released on a 100 thousand dollar bond while awaiting sentencing.
