Katherine Heigl has spoken on several occasions about motherhood and the changes her body experienced, but one of her most memorable confessions was related to the size of her breasts during pregnancy.
The Grey’s Anatomy actress said that she had always had a large bust, but everything changed when she was expecting one of her children.
“My breasts just became gigantic. It was horrible! I’ve always had fairly large breasts, but I went from a DD cup to an I. Did you know an I cup even existed? I didn’t. I only found out when I had to start buying bras in that size. D, E, F, G, H, I… It’s terrifying!”, she said after giving birth to her son Joshua.
Although she used humor to tell the anecdote, many women identified with her experience.
Pregnancy causes significant hormonal changes that prepare the body for breastfeeding, which can result in a considerable increase in breast size.
“It has been almost 14 months since Joshua Jr. was born, and it has taken me about that long to finally get back in shape. The first pic was taken one month after he was born. The second pic was taken almost a full year later and the last pic was taken this weekend. I wish I had a few from in between the first and second so you could really see how slow my progress was, but alas… I was busy covering it all up those vacation months, not posing in my unders! Anyway, I have a beach vacation coming up, a new job I start filming in April and my deep desire to feel fit, strong and sexy propelling me forward the last two months to finally loose the last of my baby weight and do a deep dive search for the ab muscles I knew were under that belly somewhere”, was the caption for a sequence of photos about her pregnancy.
Heigl has been married since 2007 to musician Josh Kelley. They have three children: two adopted girls, Naleigh and Adalaide, and a biological son, Joshua Jr. For several years, the family has lived in Utah, away from the pace of Los Angeles, and the actress often shares everyday moments from her family life on social media.
In recent years, she starred in the successful Netflix series Firefly Lane, where she played Tully Hart. The production was very well received and showed a more dramatic side of her career.
