X-rays often reveal illnesses, fractures, or injuries, but they rarely show an image as shocking as the one that surprised a group of veterinarians in Scotland.

The protagonist of this incredible story was Macie, a Staffordshire bull terrier puppy just 12 weeks old who arrived as an emergency case after beginning to choke and display strange behavior.

Her owner, Irene Paisley, initially thought the animal had swallowed part of a toy. However, when the veterinarians took an X-ray, they discovered something completely unexpected: inside her body was a kitchen knife approximately 20 centimeters long.

The object had traveled through part of her digestive system, and the blade was still near her throat. The situation was extremely dangerous, but one detail ended up saving her life: Macie had swallowed the handle of the knife first, not the sharp part.

The specialists performed emergency surgery to remove the object and, against all odds, the little dog managed to recover.

Veterinarian Emily Ronald said she had never seen an X-ray like Macie’s and explained that if the blade had entered first, the consequences would probably have been fatal.

To this day, the X-ray image is still remembered as one of those medical and veterinary scenes that seem straight out of a movie: a small puppy that survived having a knife inside her body.
