Two or three sticks. That’s all. If you’ve ever looked at a pigeon nest and thought it was a joke, you’re not alone: scientists officially consider them some of the most precarious constructions in the animal kingdom. The eggs seem to defy gravity while resting on practically nothing.
And yet, that’s the trick. While other birds spend entire weeks weaving elaborate structures, pigeons evolved to live on cliffs and buildings where predators have very little access. With that location advantage, an elaborate nest simply stopped being necessary. Minimalist architecture isn’t neglect — it’s pure adaptation.
The result speaks for itself: pigeons have been on this planet for millions of years and are practically everywhere. 🐦 Sometimes, what looks like a design flaw is exactly the right solution.
