A plastic surgeon from Taiwan who specializes in nose procedures and breast augmentation became known after sharing a video in which he performs a vasectomy on himself, a procedure he described as “a gift for my wife”.
Dr. Chen Weinong, a father of three, posted the video showing him sitting cross-legged, guiding viewers through the 11 steps of the surgery, which include locating the vas deferens, administering anesthesia, cutting, tying, and suturing the wound. “Oh, this hurts a lot!” he exclaimed when touching the duct, and later, while suturing himself, added: “This feels very strange”.
Chen explained that he chose the vasectomy because of the age difference between him and his wife, and trusting in his own surgical skills, he decided to perform the procedure on himself.
Despite the criticism, the Taipei Department of Health confirmed his surgical qualifications and noted that there were no legal issues with the procedure.
