I went to the tanning bed and my face ended up like this. With those words, TikTok user @suecaaa_ showed her face covered in blisters and noticeably swollen.

According to her account, the problem may have been a broken protective pane that neither the staff nor the other clients noticed. Without that barrier, the UV rays hit her skin directly.

The most unsettling part is that she had used the same place and the same treatment regularly before, and nothing like this had ever happened to her.

She had to seek medical attention: corticosteroid injections, as well as creams, antibiotics, and painkillers. In her post, she wrote: “Please let this pain go away”. She admitted that she knew the risks, but until something like this happens to you, you don’t become aware of them.

Her account reignited the debate about safety at these salons. Meanwhile, one practical question remains: when was the last time you checked the equipment before using it?
