Someone threw Toby out of a window while the car was still moving right on the highway in Wisconsin. A driver who saw everything slammed on the brakes, called the police, and waited. Officer Brody Schmitz arrived, found the black-and-white kitten by the asphalt, and picked him up.

Schmitz took him to a nearby shelter so they could care for him while he finished his shift. But before leaving, he told the shelter staff that he would come back for him. And he did.
At the end of his shift that same night, Schmitz returned, signed the adoption papers, and took Toby home. The vehicle responsible was never located. But Toby no longer needs them to find it — he already found the one who takes care of him.
