For years, we were told that cellulite, love handles, or a little belly were things a famous woman should hide. Florence Pugh decided to show them.
The actress has been speaking openly for years about her relationship with her body and the demands she encountered as soon as she arrived in Hollywood. She was only 19 years old when, as she recounted, people began telling her that she needed to lose weight and even wanted to alter other aspects of her appearance.

Over time, Florence took the opposite path. She has appeared on red carpets in sheer dresses, spoken about not wanting to hide her body, and also defended the idea that things as normal as folds, cellulite, or imperfections that usually disappear with retouching should be visible on screen.
All of this is happening while Hollywood is going through a new phase marked by increasingly drastic weight loss and the rise of medications such as Ozempic. Some celebrities have acknowledged using them, while others have faced speculation about their physical transformations.
Florence does not need to criticize other women’s decisions to make a difference. Her stance has been about her own body: after an industry tried to convince her that she needed to lose weight to succeed, she decided that she did not have to make herself smaller to claim her place.
