Crystal Coombs was nine years old when a pit bull tore off part of her cheek. To repair it, doctors took skin from her groin. Years later, hair began to grow on the graft, and she had to pluck it out one strand at a time. After becoming a mother, she feared children would make fun of her daughter because of her appearance.

On Botched, she asked Terry Dubrow and Paul Nassif for help. Removing the graft was risky because it was close to her nose, cheek, and eye; altering that area could change the shape of her face. The doctors proposed stretching the skin with an expander under her cheek and giving her regular saline injections for a month.

The surgery made it possible to remove the graft and close the gap with skin from her face. Crystal was left with a thin scar and said her face was smooth, symmetrical, and hair-free.
