The dog, named Menor, didn’t understand hospital protocols.

His owner had suffered an accident at home in Carapeguá, Paraguay, and was transferred from one hospital to another until he reached Hospital de Trauma in Asunción. The dog followed him through the corridors without straying from the stretcher. At one point, he stood on his hind legs and rested his front paws on it, as if trying to help the healthcare staff push it.

Dollys Rotela, from the Patitas de Amor NGO, witnessed the scene and recorded it. According to her, the man traveled between countries accompanied only by his dog: at that moment, Menor was all the family he had by his side. When the patient reached the treatment room, the animal managed to climb onto the bed and get close to him, its tail wagging nonstop.
The healthcare staff had to treat the injured man without leaving the animal uncared for. Rotela said that all she saw there was the nobility and loyalty of man’s best friend.
