In the Santa Fe area of Curicó, someone locked a dog inside the casing of an old television, wrapped him in a sack, and taped his muzzle shut before abandoning him among rubble and garbage. This is how Carabineros found him: soaked, covered in mud, unable even to bark for help.

Constanza Gutiérrez, a rescuer, and her partner, a dog groomer, took him in to care for him while his future was being decided. She did not hide how she felt upon seeing him: she thanked Carabineros for their work and described what happened as a cruelty she simply cannot understand.

A report was filed with the Public Prosecutor’s Office, although so far no one has been identified as responsible for the abandonment. A neighbor ended up adopting him. The dog got a second chance — the person who left him there, so far, has faced no consequences.
