At Portal del Parque, in Pereira, Colombia, the August 10 earthquake left a scene no one wants to see again: a dog standing on the only thing left standing from an apartment on the fifth floor, with debris hanging inches from him and the void right below. The structure, located diagonally across from the CAI, was so damaged that not even the neighbors could get close.
From the street, the community recorded and cried out for help, not knowing whether emergency crews would arrive in time. The dog did not move. He only looked down, as if calculating every step on what remained of his home.
The story had an ending that brought relief to the entire neighborhood: rescuers managed to get him out alive, along with another dog that was trapped several floors higher up. 🐾🙏
