Workers in Mexico City were caught on video spraying green paint over areas of dry grass in different parts of the capital — all so the city looks better to the world ahead of the 2026 World Cup 🎨⚽
For many, the image says it all: while there are neighborhoods without water, broken streets, and forgotten basic services, the government is spending resources on making the grass look better. “It’s a disgrace, they’d rather look nice than actually be nice”, thousands reacted on social media. But others defend it: “An event like this brings millions of tourists and the eyes of the world, of course you have to present yourself well.”

Is painting the grass a valid priority when there are real urgent needs… or just a green smokescreen? 🌿
