Raven-Symoné said it bluntly on her podcast Tea Time with Raven and Miranda: no one ever gave her anything for free.
While other stars walked the red carpet in dresses lent by designers, she had to open her wallet. “I had to buy everything I wore on those red carpets”, she said. “I had to buy those thousand-dollar outfits because no one had my size”. An industry that celebrates exclusivity but left her out of the most basic privilege: having someone trust your image enough to dress you for free.
Even so, Raven became a style icon on her own merits. Her story brings to the table something that is rarely said out loud: how much it costs a woman who doesn’t fit the mold simply to appear in a photo.
