Wenatchee High School, in the state of Washington, had a problem with a complicated solution. How could dozens of band students play together without risking their health during the pandemic?
The answer did not come from a manual or a video call. It came from individual tents. Literally. Each musician now rehearses inside their own individual tent, as if it were a giant bubble protecting them while they blow into their instrument.
Director Eric Anderson puts it simply. The tents were small, but big things fit inside. This made it possible for the music to be heard together again, note by note, as if nothing had changed.
