On March 15, 2026, a group of activists entered Ridglan Farms at night, a breeding facility in Blue Mounds, Wisconsin, that raised beagles to sell to research laboratories. They took 22 dogs. 🐾
Months later, the Dane County prosecutor’s office charged 4 leaders of that rescue, and in July added serious charges against 47 more activists. Among them is Alexandra Paul, a former Baywatch actress who rescued a puppy that is now named Puah. The charges range from trespassing to theft, and some could receive up to 31 years in prison each.
Ridglan Farms ultimately surrendered its license to avoid prosecution, and more than 1,000 of its beagles were adopted after the scandal. The activists insist that they only wanted to get those dogs out of a life of cages and disease. The prosecution insists that they broke the law. 🐶⚖️
